6th Annual Bat Night at Mammoth Cave

EKU grad students recently participated in the NPS’s annual ‘bat night’ festivities at Mammoth Cave National Park. Our group helped out with demonstrations related to bat surveys, insect sampling, and helped out with inventorying efforts at the park! Many thanks to Shelby Fulton, Rachael Griffitts, Natalia Maas, and Carson McNamara for helping to make the night a success!!!

Field Studies at Floracliff / Maywoods!

Our lab recently put on a workshop in conjunction with the great people at Floracliff Nature Sanctuary¬†and the EKU Division of Natural Areas. The workshop focused on the Lepidoptera of Kentucky and, after dodging some rain on the first night, I think it is safe to say a good time was had by all… Even the moths! If you haven’t had a chance to make it out to either Floracliff or Maywoods, do yourself a favor and make it a point to visit this fall! Many thanks to Shelby Fulton for co-organizing this workshop, and for the moth images in this post!
